Default PV-500 vs Angel Eyes DVR

OK, I am close to making a decision on a DVR and cam package. This board introduced me to the Angel Eyes system. I was looking into the PV-500 and i will tell you why below. The only thing holding me back is the price but was hoping for feedback to see if you all think it is worth it.

Here are some differences that I think are worth it:
1. Uses SD card rather than mini-SD. SD cards are readily available.
2. Has an accessory external battery pack that increases recording time to 270 min but more importantly can provide power for any 12v camera.

Big drawback is price. Do you think it is worth it? I look forward to your comments.

The ability of the PV-500 to through power a 12v cam is a big advantage, otherwise

1. just get a Mini to MicroSd adapter, majority of spycams work with MicroSD, not SD, and you can always adapt to a larger size, eg Micro to SD, but not to a smaller size.

2. Power through the USB via a power stick or from the electrical supply, it will record while taking an external power supply.

We should be able to source a V2 AngelEyes MiniDVR2 shortly so I would wait for that unless you are in a rush. (although V2 won't through power a 12v cam I don't think, but I think they have fixed the motion sensing)

Alchemist,

Thanks so much for replying. I was hoping to hear your thoughts regarding this. You have brought up the most cost-effective techniques and I will seriously have to think about the solution. I am most likely leaning towards the Pv-500 just because I am lazy and I really like the extended battery option. I will be using it mainly for beach use and need about 4+ hours of use.

The other use will be for upskirting. I plan on getting the low-lux 480 line cam you reccommend. i believe that the PV-500 will give me the battery time I need on the beach as well as powering the 12v cam I have for that use. I have started posting some stills from this in the picture forum. I would love to hear your feedback on these pics.

The PV-500 also allows me the portability for upskirting as well as powering the 12v cam you suggest.

Do you have the link for the 1280x960 Pencam? I can use this at the gym where I workout. There are lots of college girls here that I have been dying to cam. I think the Pencam will work better than the Guncam for this and am looking forward to the better quality. The Gumcam is on order and I just need the link to the hi-quality Pencam. Once I get both I will post results for you to critique.

Thanks.

Let us know how it works out, in theory it sounds good but at $380 you've got to want it bad!!

That was a 12v 600TVL B&W cam I was recommending for extreme low light work.

I dunno which Pencam is best, get both and and let us know

US $36.90 http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-8MP-1280-960...220566080241QQ

US $39.99 http://cgi.ebay.com/4GB-Spy-Pen-Camc...220568265457QQ

I'm skeptical of the claims made by the distributors of both those pen cams. Yes, please buy both and give a review.

Somebody posted this link for the Pencam earlier that includes a bunch of video samples that I downloaded to preview before purchasing:
http://www.eyespypro.com/products/DV...o-Spy-Pen.html

After previewing the videos I was not impressed with the quality and believe the technology is not quite ready to handle such hi-res in such a small package. For now I will be waiting on the Gumcam to shoot girls working out and maybe try for some upskirts.

I have decided on the PV-500 for the beach footage this season. Although a little pricey I belive it will give me what I am looking for - power for 12v cam and long lasting battery.

The only thing left on the list is to get a hi-res color shoecam. I would like to get a 1280x960 but don't know if any is available and whether the quality will be same as Pencam. This will be for upskirts and will be used with the PV-500 that will provide 12v power. I am looking at this cam but don't know what the power port is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230445120806

I belive the PV-500 requires a 2.5 mm port for power. Does anybodt know if the cam listed above has that?

Thanks

My advise in that scenario would be to use a Watchcam.

Also available in Hi-Def..

$74 for the silver version.

$79.79 for the waterproof version.. http://cgi.ebay.com/4GB-8M-Pixels-HD...280475319358QQ

Probably the black watch would be the best choice for a gym. although I suspect the video quality will be very similar to the HD Pencam, but the disguise is much better.
