So i just got this new 4gig pen dvr pen, you can find them all over ebay for pretty cheap, i was a little sceptical because it boasts alot and the price is pretty resonable, i got it today, and at first it was a pain in the ass, it did not come directions and the thing kept a light on the it would go off the it would change colors i had no idea what was going on, then i tried hooking up to my laptop which is a mac and the comp. said it could not read the device so finally i found some instructions online and had time to go home to my pc and it connected successfully, but then of course i did not have the correct codecs so i could only get sound out of this thing, but finally i downloaded the k-lite codecs and everything worked great, it is bad ass the quality of the video is great and the file size is 500kb per min. PERFECT, i would strongly recomend it to any voyeurist as the perfect on the go camera. hopefully soon i will get some great footage and will show you the outcome.

Some keywords would help. Also, can you post a quick sample video of a room or something so that we can see quality? What are you planning on using it for...in other words, will it work under skirts or isn't there enough light? Finally, and sorry for all the questions, how long will it record?


EDIT - I found it on fleabay. I just searched PEN and DVR and found both 2 and 4 gig. I presume if it's 500k/min you could do quite a bit of good videoing. I would still love to see a sample vid if you could.

Do we know the video specs of this device? Size and rate? I have an INCREDIBLE place to use this and I'll buy one immediately, but only if the resulting vids are worth it.

We need to have the fps (frames per second) info to factor into the quality, but otherwise..


that's a video size of 352 x 288 pixels, which is a reasonable size, slightly larger than the 320 x 240 size of most videos posted for internet use.

=1mb per 2 minutes, 30Mb per hour.... that is far too much compression, if there is a higher quality setting I would choose that, you want to be looking at 300Mb per hour minimum for reasonable quality at 20 fps+, though they may have sacrificed fps for small filesize, which isn't neccessary with a 4Gb storage capacity.

I too would like to see even a short video at the highest quality.. and a few sudden light changes to see how it copes.
