    Default My dream camera...

    • Is as reliable as the 808 #16
    • Has a pinhole lens
    • Takes arbitrarily large ExFAT cards
    • Has public key encryption so that if it is discovered without the private key, none of the video files are readable
    • Is configurable with a TXT file like the 808 #16
    • Has an M12 lens mount for easy lens changes
    • Does not overheat like the 808 #26
    • Can be stopped and started and have files downloaded over WiFi, like a GoPro

    What's the closest out there?
    voboy and elkfood like this.

Reviews online were terrible. Did you have a better experience?

what you're looking for is a rasperry pi. may not be as simple as using a text file to configure it, but it can do just about everything you're looking for. i'm actually waiting on my pi zero to come in the mail. 10 bucks for the pi, 30 for the 8mp 1080p cam and 5 for the ribbon extension. should be lots of fun to play with

They are fun to play with. I picked mine up at our local computer superstore in their "tinkering" department. They had the raspberry pi zero w on sale for only $5! You can't beat it for that price. Camera was $25 and cable was $8. So around the same price you paid. The nice thing is that they are local so I could pay cash and not have to worry about my wife seeing a credit card entry or package arrive. I also purchased a rainbow case for $6. Very nice little package all the way around for the money.

The camera is not bad and man is this thing small! Unfortunately, the camera cable is not very long so making a shoe camera with the pi camera means strapping the raspberry pi around your ankle in what would probably be an uncomfortable position. You could also potentially use the C270 webcam with it (or any USB camera for that matter). Using a USB web cam with a long cable would allow you to put the camera in the shoe and the tiny raspberry pi zero w in your pocket with a battery pack.

That's the other downside to the raspberry pi zero w. You'll need a fairly hefty battery pack to get any significant life out of the thing. But all things considered, it is a cool device to add to someone's arsenal of tools.

I like the device. Not sure I'll find a good use for it but they are really fun to play around with. As a programmer I can use python to write applications that access the camera. Plus, there are lots of other examples and apps our there for this device.

    I observe the Voyeur's Code:

"I pledge to never, under any circumstances, share, post, trade or otherwise distribute any original content that I receive privately from another voyeur without his express permission, ever. I expect other voyeurs I trade with to abide by the same strict policy where my own original content is concerned. This agreement must hold forever, even years after the files have been traded and all contact has ceased."

Well I haven't had it for too long but quality is better then most and night vision is better then most as well. No wifi but it seems legit and doesn't feel fake. It's worth a shot.

i ordered an extension ribbon with mine. it's 6 inches or a foot or something and supposedly it's compatible with the zero. give you a lot of extra room to work with if it actually works. was only a few bucks so i figured i'd give it a shot
