On CameraFi the recording button is on the right, directly above the camera button. It is a round circle with what looks to be a video camera in it.

Well, that specific button appears to be missing for me. I'm only able to take snapshots/photos.

Apparently i can't edit the above post anymore so here goes:

Would you recommend the C270 over the C310 or the Hercules HD Twist which has a ~30 cm to infinity fixed focus lens?

    Thanks.

I have no experience with the C310 or the Hercules HD Twist. So I would start with the C270. You can likely pick up a C270 for under $25. So if you decide to upgrade to one of the other models, you aren't out much money. Also, the HD Twist looks interesting, but I doubt that you could get it out of its case without potentially breaking it.

The C270 is trivial to take out of the case and I know that it works well. So that is what I would start with if it were me. The C310 looks like the next generation C270 with perhaps slightly better specs. But not by enough for me to recommend it as a first try.

'Doing this you can have two phones: one that does the recording and one that does the control/viewing.'

Great topic, loads of good tips/advice. However, when it comes to certain techno stuff I'm not the sharpest tool in the box! could you if poss, explain the procedure for using 2 phones with this camera. I've already downloaded 'camerafi' and it works fine on the phone that is wired to the c270, what else do I need to do. Many thanks in anticipation for your help

Camera Fi does not support remote viewing. Instead, download the app called "USB Camera". It allows you to view it remotely on another phone or computer. Please note, it is not perfect. It doesn't let me view on ALL of my other phones. It can be finicky. But I can view it if I go directly to the link.

So for example: If the IP address of your phone with he camera installed is 192.168.0.13, you go to your other phone's browser and type in http://192.168.0.13:8081 you will get the standard page that is supposed to let you view the video, change the specs, and start motion detection recording. The video is supposed to also show on that page.

If it doesn't, you can instead go directly to http://192.168.0.13:8081/video and it will pull up the video page without showing any other controls.

I have yet to find a perfect app for this and I've contemplated writing one of my own. But so far "USB Camera" has done what I needed it to do. Good luck.
